Some cruise lines will not accept Bookings from outside US, but NCL is one of the exceptions. Will try to find the list again with the do's and don't s.

Ten days before we leave UK to fly to USA. No cruise tickets emailed Travel Agent, who informed us everything was all right, but also gave me a number for NCL in America. Our Advanced Booking Form had also disappeared on the NCL site. Contacting NCL they told us our TA had all the relevant information.

Contacted our American TA by phone, told they would contact NCL and ring us back at 5:00pm GMT. Five o ‘clock arrived, waiting for the phone to ring, Wham the power in the street went out. As we have a digital phone we are controlled by mains electricity so our phone we useless. Three hours this inconvenience was with us, when the power returned, I rang up our TA in America. This is not the one we usual deal with, and we had no problems with our previous TA. They told us the American Taxes had not been paid, they wanted permission to extract the cash from our card. After ten minutes we were informed everything was OK, and our information reappeared on NCL website.

Tickets appeared this morning, and have quickly printed them. Our previous TA was an auction, where the client can bid or buy vacations. When selected your vacation, the full amount including taxes were paid. This one we paid the usual deposit and the balance when asked for it. If in future we deal with the same or another American Travel Agent, we shall have to watch the tax is paid.

Our Itinerary:

25 Feb Depart Birmingham (UK) to Dublin and stay overnight
26 Feb Depart Dublin – Newark – Tampa and then Miami
26 – 29 Feb South Beach Miami
29 Feb Norwegian Jade depart 4:00 pm
01 Mar –7 Mar At Sea
07 Mar Ponta Delgada
08 Mar At Sea
09 Mar Lisbon
10 Mar Gibraltar
11 Mar Malaga
12 Mar Palma Majorca
13 Mar Barcelona
13 Mar Fly 3:00pm to Birmingham (UK)

The first stage of our vacation, with us going to Dublin, is all about cost, and flying to Miami the whole package is cheaper than the departure tax imposed by the British Government. Persons in UK please remember Eire is another country with its own taxes.

Default Norwegian Jade Transatlantic Cruise

My wife and I are going on the Feb 29 transatlantic cruise Miami to Barcelona. Although we have cruised twice before with absolutely no problems, we are worried about seasickness. I can get very seasick. While in the military I was on an aircraft carrier and got hugely sick (no stabilizers!). I took no precautions on previous cruises but wonder if I should on this one. I have read reviews and it seems that the worst scenario is a North Atlantic cruise on a small boat with no stabilizers. Do you think I should have any concerns while aboard the Jade?

Welcome to the family

If you are at all concerned about being ill...or the chance of being ill...then I would recommensd that you take remedies with you. However NCL will, if asked at either reception or at the medical facility, give you free seasickness tablets. One thing that really helps alot is ginger...crystalised ginger that you can eat or ginger ale. Settles even the most upset of stomachs

However, Jade at almost 94k tons should be pretty steady, so knowing that you can get pills if need be from staff, or a glass of ginger ale at the bar should be fine

Thanks Ally. I was pretty sure we would be fine but our previous cruises had smooth waters so I wanted to be ready for any surprises. I am planning on taking those ginger items and maybe some Bonine. It is good to know the cruise line helps out too.
