You're welcome

You shouldn't have any problems, but it certainly never hurts to be prepared. I have done a Transatlantic on a ship a third of the size of Jade and had superb duckpond weather. It's luck of the draw really, but if you do get stuck, you will be OK in respect to getting seasickness medication from reception or the medical facility (if need be you can get an anti sickness injection from the medical facility, but that has to be paid for, not sure of cost, but anyone who really is suffering, they will administer it if asked), so I wouldn't worry too much. Just sit back and enjoy the cruise, I'm sure that you'll have a wonderful time

This cruise will be our fifth in NCL and apart from walking in a drunken fashion we have had no reactions that could cause seasickness. The ships stabilizers hold the ship steady in all conditioners we have accounted.

This will be our forth transatlantic and second with NCL, and the sea days are fantastic. we like all NCL ships, with the Gem probably shading slightly the others.

I am sure you will have very little reactions if we encounter rough seas. we enjoy seeing the sea go wild as long as the ship stays stable.

Hope my opinions are useful, and hopefully are truthful as far as the Jade is concerned.

Have a nice cruise and maybe our paths will cross.

Hey Norman, why is Norwegian your favorite? We have cruised on Carnival and Princess and want to get your take on what the difference is. We will also be on that Miami-Barcelona cruise. Maybe bump into you there.

We enjoy cruising, and we use companies where we can get a great deal, NCL with their paper ticket policy are one of the few companies we in the UK can purchase very cheap cruises (compared to the UK market) from the USA market.

Many cruise companies restrict business to the American and Canadian Market to US Travel Agents. This way we can get great deals. Naturally if an offer that is attractive on another line and the price and itinerary is right, then we will consider it.

Packing finished, bags packed within the aircraft 20KG weight limit. I appreciate there is a thread of this subject, but Freestyle Cruising makes packing easier. Suit and some of my wife glad rags, have been left. We always dress for dinner, usually; I wear a tie, and blazer for Formal nights in Freestyle Cruising. Formal nights are nice, but with traveling and packing, can be a nightmare. We accept the dining arrangements, and with flexi, usually have a snack in the Buffet, and go to a restaurant usually after the first performance of the show. Maybe booked or random.

Our trip starts on Monday morning where we fly from our local airport Birmingham (UK) to Dublin with a very cheap ticket, stay in a Travelodge near the airport. Tuesday we fly to America from Dublin. The reason for these arrangements is the flight taxes from Dublin are very much cheaper than flying from the UK.

In America we are staying three nights in South Beach in the Miami Beach area. This is an area we have never been to, last time near the Miracle mile and previous in the lovely Coconut Grove area.. Our tickets say we can board at midday, but we will take a cab, an hour earlier, and hopefully board before midday, as we were informed on the NCL Gem the buffet on all ships irrespective of departure time is midday.

Then six sea days which is wonderful, till we reach the Azores, a tour has been arranged, then to Lisbon, where we hope to find the number 28 tram, for the so called spectacular ride. Gibraltar is next, for a change we are not going up the rock, but catching the local bus to the lighthouse and around the coast of GIB. Then I intend to purchase a leather coat, which last year the price was a fraction of what we would pay at home. Still regretting not buying. Malaga is a place we will find something to do, as it looks as the excursion I booked, is not running. Been a lot of times, and have done most of the tours.

We then cross the Med to Palma, a city we can love to walk around, then our final port of Barcelona. Will do our usual NCL routine of carrying our own bags of the ship; catch the local port bus to the Christopher Columbus statute, if weather is OK will stroll through the Rambles to the square where the aerobus departs. Otherwise we will use the metro. Our flight to Birmingham is not till mid afternoon. We had considered staying extra two nights in Barcelona, but as we have found convenient flights, decided to come home.
