While never the queen of glitz, the Norwegian Majesty has been a beloved vessel for tens of thousands of seafarers who’ve made the voyage from Boston to Bermuda and back over the past 13 years.

Yesterday, the Majesty made her final visit to the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in South Boston, then headed for drydock at the Boston Ship Repair. There, she’ll undergo maintenance before shoving off for a new home in Charleston, S.C. and greener waters, including the Cayman Islands, Cozumel and Key West.

The 680-foot long cruise ship made its Port of Boston debut in 1994 as the Royal Majesty. Norwegian Cruise Lines purchased the ship in 1997 and changed its name ot the Norwegian Majesty. She was “stretched” and upgraded in 1999, when a 112-foot midsection was added.

Starting next May, the 1,700-seat Norwegian Dream will replace the Majesty. At 754 feet long, the dream is 20 percent larger and boasts two pools, a driving range and a basketball court.
