NCL Jade - gyro-compass fault caused recent sharp turn and listing incident

On May 12 at 9pm, Jade was tween Venice & Naples and travelling at 22 knots, the ship made a sudden uncommanded turn to port which caused an 8 degree list. The list was enough to send things crashing to the floor and pools to partially empty.

There were no injuries reported and the captain reassured passengers and had the ship checked thoroughly before continuing the cruise.

Jade is due to arrive in Barcelona on schedule on May 17.

I would imagine that Jade's 'excursion' was quite scary, especially as it would have been dark at the time...although without a visible horizon it might not have seemed quite as bad as it would be in daylight.

Still quite worrying that it happened all the same.

This incident reminds me alot of what the Grand and Crown Princess's did. I think all three ships have identical pod types, so it could be something in the software, maybe. Jade had problems with a pod before handover as Pride of Hawaii...IIRC it was a pod bearing or it ran assymetrically.
