Pride of Hawaii (now Norwegian Jade) not returning to Hawaii for at least 2 years
Quote:
The former Pride of Hawaii, now known as the Norwegian Jade, won't be coming back anytime soon.
The ship, which left Hawaii on Feb. 4, will extend its inaugural season in Europe and remain cruising year-round until at least the spring of 2010, Norwegian Cruise Line said Wednesday.
The Norwegian Jade will remain in Europe full time through to spring 2010, instead of ending in November 2008 as had been previously announced. It will be NCL's first ship to sail year-round in Europe.
"We've seen strong growth in Europe and Freestyle Cruising has been a big success with our European guests," said Colin Veitch, NCL president and CEO. "Norwegian Jade has been very well-received in her first season, and our full three-ship fleet in Europe is doing so well that we are now confident in committing a ship year-round to this strongly growing market."
Miami-based NCL has previously said it hoped to bring the Pride of Hawaii back to the islands if demand remained strong.
