Hopefully Andreas will be back soon and will have his usual amazing album of photos of Gem's inside and outside as she is completed in the fitting out basin. Andreas posted his album of Pearl on here last year...incredible shots of the ship, so fingers crossed that he can return with shots of Gem soon too

Have to say that despite not liking the hull art, Gem is quite impressive to look at.

I'm new to these forums...just wanted to say hi and thank you for the information posted here.

Actually, this post has already helped me. On the NCL website (and looking at the deck plans)...deck 14 shows the rock climbing wall for the Pearl, but on the Gem it is not shown. Same with the bowling alley on deck 7.
I was really worried that the Gem ended up leaving out / off these 2 items, which would have been very disappointing. From the pictures posted here...it's pretty obvious that the rock climbing wall was included on the Gem and I assume from the press clipping the bowling alley was included as well.
Good news...thanks to all for posting the information.

I am fairly confident that I'll be purchasing a cruising on the Gem in October of 2008 to the Mediterranean out of Barcelona. This will be my gift to my wife on our 5 year wedding anniversary.

Good times!

here's hoping that you get that cruise booked.

I am sailing on the Gem on it's Shakedown cruise on 5 October. This is a test run cruise before embarking on it's scheduled itineraries.

For those of you who are interested his is a link to a video of the undocking of the Norwegian Gem last weekend.

http://gem.cruisevideos.de/gem_undocking.wmv

We do not have any information regarding the film maker or indeed where the film originally came from. We would be delighted to hear from them

Hello and welcome to Cruisingtalk.

The video of teh Ge was very good. If you can capture some pictures of the River Ems transit we will be more than pleased to see them. Especially myself as I will be cruising the Gem on the 6th October this year.

Hi again,

It is always an about 2-3 hours ride from my home to Papenburg and the River Transit schedule is sometimes a little bit uncertain as you maybe remember from last year .
But on the other hand it will be the last NCL Vessel amidst impressive scenery.
We are booked for the Gem Transatlantic Cruise although we had a very bumpy cruise last year on the Pearl. [ => see video ]

I will keep you updated!

Any footage that you can get will be warmly welcomed JJ

Hopefully Gem will not blackout Europe though
