Sorry it's not the people it's the SHIP - what is fashionable for the Bliss lounge(???) (keep it clean [ish!!!!]) - aka the Bordelo - and Cagney's or any upscale restaurant aboard. Ruby Wax had it straight!

You're right about the ship though, she is a bit too much 'in your face' colourscheme/style wise....manybe they should have arranged for 'Changing Rooms' to go on board and tone it down

Contrary to opinion on this thread some of us actually enjoy sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line. We have had five cruises with them on different ships and have enjoyed each one.

Maybe the colour scheme strikes people on short cruises, but you soon grow to take it for granted. As for certain part not being to your liking, such as the Bliss lounge on Gem, we totally detest it, as it at the end of the ship, it can be avoided very easily. The beauty we have found on a larger vessel is choice, noise or quiet areas are easily found. As we don’t use the surcharge restaurants I cannot comment, as we have found the food satisfying in the other restaurants. A strict no smoking policy is also one of the attractions, not like my previous cruise.

To comment about TV programs is a bit of a sham. We used to have Judith Chalmers getting off the Orient Express with no luggage, the same lady in a self catering apartment, saying how good they were, but she was staying in a five star hotel. We travel with approx 20kg of luggage, not a dozen suitcases.

We are looking forward to our sixth cruise with NCL in a few weeks time.

Don't get me wrong, I like the ships and I enjoy NCL's experience. But I would prefer clean, uncluttered hull/superstructure. I have never been a fan of the artwork concept. Yes, its making the ships individual but they can be a little OTT. I like Aida's artwork, all the ships are the same, so its more of a signature rather than in your face & garish.

NCL have some lovely ships, to me there is no point in covering them with graffitti...they are beautiful without the make-up

As for Bliss...I fear that is what has spawned many of what will be aboard Oasis o/t Seas...leave a ship looking like a ship, inside and out. And tbh, the plush type upholstery is a devil to keep clean, so in years to come could well harbour all sorts of nasties.....afterall keeping someone's noro at bay is hard enough now, how can it be effectively contained/trated when you have fabrics like velvet draping all over the place? The keeping the ship clean and as germ free as possible side of things does concern me when they use such hard to clean environments/designs. This is something that has already been picked up with the F3 cabins that will have wavy walls etc.
