Default A new Mini Cruise

JUST RELEASED - NEW mini-cruise to the Channel Islands from £169 per Latitudes member. It's just been announced: on 3 May 2007, Norwegian Dream is cruising from Dover for a 2-night mini-cruise with a day on the beautiful island of Guernsey.

Lying close to the north coast of France it is the perfect 2 night escape. Explore the region’s rich heritage or simply revel in the beauty of your surroundings. St. Peter Port, the island’s capital, is a bustling harbour town, a tapestry of architectural styles that tell the story of the region’s changing fortunes.

NCL being bad again....

Not everyone will appreciate booking a cruise and then finding out they are on a semi-charter.

I asked Phil to see what the score was with this cruise. He has contacted NCL UK, apparently the charter has been cancelled and NCL UK are struggling to fill the ship to make it viable. Current lead in fares are from £199, cabins in all categories are available.

However, there is nothing on the Big Cruise website to say that the charter has been cancelled.

Cool

Hi Ally,
Trust me, booked this mini cruise this morning then read about the big cruise, must say i never heard of it until i just found this post. Am a bit worried now, I booked it with my mate as she has never cruised before so thought this would give her a taste of life on board a cruise ship, have you ever been on one like this before? and did I read this is a maiden voyage? please help very confused now.

Norwegian Dream is not on a maiden/inaugural cruise...she is well established for many seasons out of Dover, so no worries there. The gay charter was to have been a first for British cruisers, not for the ship itself.

In relation to the gay cruise, the charter has indeed been cancelled...reasons so far unknown...NCL are struggling to fill the ship at short notice, so you will have plenty of room to explore her properly.

I have done several mini cruises, including a pre-service shakedown cruise in 2005 on Norwegian Jewel (and I will be doing a similar one on Norwegian Gem this Autumn)...mini cruises are a great introduction to cruising for first timers, I am sure that you and your friend will have a great time

You will find that most lines do 2,3 or 4 night mini - or taster - cruises. My next one in August is a 4 night from Leith to Newcastle via Kirkwall and Bergen with Fred Olsen. They are a great way to stave off the cruising withdrawal symptoms...and a great way to test other line's without spending a fortune. Royal Caribbean are doing a couple of 2 nighters on Navigator this summer too....there are loads to choose from on all sorts and sizes of ships

NCL are fairly good on guaranteed cabin upgrades, you could well be lucky if the ship is running light.

When you get to the check-in, ask there too if there are any upgrades available, you never know your luck and you can only ask

Wow navigator, would love a ride on her. Is it best to go to the cruiselines own site and search the itinerys? Thanks so much for your help.
