Default NCL signs flights deal with flyglobespan

NCL has signed a deal with Scottish airline flyglobespan to fly passengers direct from Scotland to the Mediterranean and Vancouver.

From this summer NCL will offer flyglobespan flights from Aberdeen and Glasgow to Barcelona to enable customers to join its western Mediterranean fly-cruises without having to fly via London.

There will also be a direct flight from Glasgow to Vancouver to join Norwegian Sun’s Alaskan Vistas and Vancouver cruise. This option will save customers £100 on brochure prices. Complimentary regional flights from seven UK airports to connect with the Glasgow flight are also available.

NCL general manager Francis Riley said: "This new agreement with flyglobespan will make it easier for travel agents to sell NCL and help ensure our guests enjoy a more streamlined journey to their ship."

Now that is a damn good idea from NCL UK. Heathrow is a nightmare and after having to transit through there for my cruise in South America, I hope never to fly from or to there again. It's chaotic at best. I would be more than happy to fly from Leeds to Glasgow and then onto Barcelona.

I think as cruises become more popular they are seeing the sense to fly from the regional airports. It's a good move as far as I am concerned. However Heathrow is still closer to me. What I want is for them to move to Luton.

My SA cruise had me fly from Leeds to Heathrow, then to Madrid and then to Santiago de Chile...reverse was from Buenos Aires. Almost missed the connection on the way home from Heathrow to Leeds entirely due to the total chaos in immigration...and my suitcase didn't even get to Heathrow from Madrid....it's a mess at Heathrow and I suspect it will only get worse when Terminal 5 opens.

Any deal that means I can get to a cruise without going via Heathrow is good IMHO.
