Minor itinerary changes for some NCLA cruises
After launching a new U.S.-flagged ship in Hawaii each of the past three years, Norwegian Cruise Line has settled into tweaking the fleet.
Because Norwegian Wind is being reassigned to parent company Star Cruises, Pride of Aloha will take over 10- and 11-day voyages around the islands in September, with every fourth trip making the trek to Tabuaeran, a tiny atoll in the Republic of Kiribati 1,000 miles south of Oahu. (Fares start around $1,100 a person.) Pride of America and Pride of Hawaii will continue weekly schedules with stops on Kauai, Maui, Oahu and the Big Island (around $550, depending on season).
The changes will mean the fewest stops at Tabuaeran since Norwegian began visiting the island once a week in 2001 to comply with U.S. maritime law.
