The dresscode is very easy going. There are usually 2 formal nights in 7, but even then its optional. There are a few things not allowed in the dining areas, such as blue jeans, baseball caps...except on the Texas based cruises where the rule on blue jeans is relaxed. I found the dresscode very easy to live with, and families with you children seemed to like it too, none of the fraught dressing up after a day on shore etc.
Its not to everyone's taste, obviously, but then, not everything will be. But I quite enjoyed the freedom to choose.
