Infinity - propulsion & gastro-illness problems

It appears that Infinity has suffered propulsion difficulties which has meant her arrival in Vancouver today has been delayed and the port call at Sitka was missed. So far there is very little available as to what the exact problem is/was but it does seem to mean that she will depart Vancouver later than scheduled today.

Anyone leaving on her today should report to the port as planned and further information should be available at pierside.

She is anticipated to arrive in Vancouver at 1230pm, but that is still to be confirmed. If you are at all worried, contact Celebrity or your TA.

It now appears that the cruise due to leave later today will now leave at approx 9am tomorrow (Monday). As further information is released regarding port/itinerary changes, I'll post it here. Passengers due to leave are requested to go to the pier as normal and they will be advised further there.

The ship is now docked in Vancouver, however, from what someone who has family onboard this last cruise, she went from code yellow to code red this morning. There were reports of illness on the ship too a few days ago.

Infinity is still docked at Vancouver, going by her webcam. As to her itinerary for this week or whether the cruise will be pulled, no official statement has yet been made by Celebrity. I guess that its safe to assume that the passengers for the cruise that had been scheduled to leave yesterday are onboard, and will be told what is happening just as soon as Celebrity know.

According to various sources, the reason for the missed port and slower than normal speed was an electrical fault. The ship is expected to leave at 4pm Pacific time, one day late, therefore the scheduled stop at Sitka will be dropped from the itinerary in order to make up the lost time.

Passengers on both sailings were or will be compensated $500 onboard credit per stateroom for the inconvenience. Each guest will also receive a $200 discount on a future Celebrity sailing.

Reports have confirmed that on top of the mechanical trouble, Infinity also had 125 passengers down with gastro illness during the cruise too.

Canadian Public Health Authority were notified of the outbreak as per Canadian law.

Infinity is certainly having more than a few problems lately, like Mercury earlier in the season. Its a pity really.

I just hope, selfishly, of course, that they get things squared away by October! Although, since I an really careful about hand washing and love sea days I wouldn't mind sailing her anyway, I can handle missed ports.

I am sure the ship will be sorted by October, they might have to drydock her if the propulsion problem cant be sorted soon.
