Smile Infinity - First-Ever Kidney Walk at Sea Event - Sept 4, 2007

August 30, 2007 // Franchising.com // Minneapolis, MN –Alaska may be best known for its breathtaking glaciers, majestic Mt. McKinley and the spectacular opportunities to see whales, moose and polar bears, but this September, America's Last Frontier will also become the host to America's first-ever Kidney Walk at Sea. The Kidney Walk at Sea is a joint effort of the National Kidney Foundation and SeaMaster Cruises that will raise funds and awareness about the importance of early detection for chronic kidney disease.

The Kidney Walk at Sea is part of the nationwide Kidney Walk Program, a series of over 70 events held in cities across the U.S. that attract 20,000 walkers annually and raise funds for research, professional and public education, patient services, advocacy and organ donor programs.

"Twenty million Americans have kidney disease, and an additional 20 million more are at risk," said Mark Schiffner, general manager of SeaMaster Cruises. "We chose to partner with the National Kidney Foundation because we recently lost one of our franchise owners to kidney disease. This is a tribute to him and also an attempt to raise $10,000 for the foundation."

The cruise will set sail from Vancouver, Canada, on September 4 and will dock in Juneau, Alaska, on September 6. That morning, SeaMaster Cruises employees and franchise owners will be stepping out for the 5K Kidney Walk at Sea event during their Networking Convention aboard Celebrity Cruises' Infinity.

To make a donation for the Kidney Walk at Sea, visit National Kidney Foundation Serving the Dakotas and Minnesota - Start page or call 800-596-7943.
The National Kidney Foundation is dedicated to the prevention of kidney and urinary tract disease, improving the health and well-being of patients and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.
