TV campaign for Hurtigruten in France

Following Costa and Compagnie des Iles du Ponant, the Paris-based French office of Hurtigruten has decided to advertise on television. TV advertising was tested last year on a couple cable channels and is scheduled this year on two national ones to promote Hurtigruten’s summer programs.

For two weeks and in cooperation with Innovation Norway (the Norwegian Tourism Office in Paris), a 30-second spot -- to be repeated about 80 times -- will describe the destination and the sailing experience the Hurtigruten ships offer.

The French office, opened some four years ago, has registered huge passenger growth, starting from 800 to reach reach 7,000 last year. A 10% increase is expected in 2008.

The favourite itinerary: the ‘Grand Voyage,’ from Bergen to Kirkenes and back, chosen by a third of the passengers. Bookings are made mainly at travel agencies and very few come through tour operators.
