EUROPA.art: The hub for international art on the high seas
In the wake of a successful premiere last year, the big names in the international art scene again gather in 2007 on board the EUROPA. It is the world’s only floating art fair and is organized by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises in cooperation with photomarketing.de and the internationally renowned art expert Dr. Bernd Fechner. From September 20 through 30, 2007, passengers between Lisbon and Monte Carlo will be able to enjoy art exhibitions and meet and share views with art dealers and artists. A gallery tour in Palma de Mallorca with a gala reception will crown the latest EUROPA.art. Art expert Dr. Alfred Biolek will be on hand as event guide.
Artists, art dealers and art-lovers are to gather a second time on board the 5-star-plus ship EUROPA. The 13 participants of EUROPA.art will offer art and the highest level of expertise to a maximum of 408 passengers. They will not only present world-class artwork in the floating gallery, but will also be helping passengers buy works in their suites. Renowned art critics and experts including Dr. Cristina Steingraeber of publishers Hatje Cantz and Dr. Alfred Biolek will be on hand to share their knowledge with the guests.
EUROPA.art showcases contemporary art – from painting to sculpture and photography. The participants of this year’s art fair include the Jule Kewenig (Cologne, Palma de Mallorca), Löhrl (Moenchengladbach) and Christian Roellin (St. Gallen) galleries, and Professor Markus Luepertz of Germany, a leading proponent of contemporary art. The passengers on the EUROPA will also be able to devote time to art ashore when they visit the Mediterranean region’s top art addresses like the Musei de Art Contemporani and Gaudí’s work in Barcelona, and Valencia’s spectacular opera and concert hall. The highlight comes with the tour of leading galleries of contemporary art in the historic district of Palma de Mallorca.
