Question Excursions

I had a few questions about excursions. Well, to be more accurate I wanted to know everybody's opinions and personal experiences with excursions on the Grand Princess especially the British Isles/Ireland cruise. I'm trying to plan our Honeymoon.

In terms of cost (because its starting to look quite expensive), is it better to do the excursions listed on the website by Princess or no? I would prefer to do most of my meals on the ship considering they would already be paid for. I'm not sure how possible this is but that is what I'm hoping.

How many excursions do most people go on anyway? I'd love to do a lot of them but again cost is starting to worry me. How much of certain places will you be able to experience from the ship?

It seems like there is a lot of drive time for tours to the actual cities/destinations. Are these enjoyable (beautiful scenery) or are they more tiring/boring?

If anybody has any other helpful information about excursions (which are more enjoyable, etc.) I'd love to hear what you have to say. Oh and any cost-reducing tips would be appreaciated as well! Thanks for your time!

Joanna

Excursions for me are always determined by what I want to do. In the UK I assume you will no doubt dock at Southampton. Southampton dock is close to the shopping centre, if you like shopping. To visit any thing else you would need to travel.

Some of the places of interest near Southampton include
The official website of New Forest Tourism
Beaulieu - The Best Day Out in England!

A taxi can take you to these places but I expect it will be expensive so if Princess do an excursion I would take them up on it.
