Default Grand Cayman to Finally Build Cruise Ship Dock

The island of Grand Cayman, which has long resisted building a cruise ship dock out of concern about environmental damage that would result from dredging a channel into George Town Harbor, has now decided to start development of a dock for four ships.

We went to Belize in May 2005 on the Valor, and there is a much longer journey from ship to shore. The ships anchor 5 miles offshore, and the tender takes 12 minutes to get to shore. In Grand Cayman, the ships anchor much closer to shore, so it takes about 4 minutes to get there.
