Shipbuilder fined for QM2 accident

$0.4m doesn't seem alot for the lives of the 16 who died though really. That was a dreadful accident...made worse by the fact they were so high up in drydock when it happened...a hell of a way down and absolutely nothing they could have done to save themselves.
At least had there been water some might have survived. Dreadful accident and not a huge fine really for what is corporate manslaughter.

That is what tends to happen with corporate litigation...they drag it out for as long as possible. The punishment definately does not fit the crime though, its a disgrace how some companies can hide behind their lawyers and wiggle out of responsibility.
