Just joined site. Four of us (my friend and two elderly relatives) booked on QE2 for July 31st for 12 night Med crusie. Anyone else sailing then? Any tips appreciated - especially how to plan the day trips when in port and what sights are best to see. Will use local taxis and not the ship tours. Carolyne
What a wonderful cruise you will have, made all the better as QE2 will be leaving the fleet next year...it is sure to be bittersweet as she is such a popular ship and people are climbing over each other to get aboard before she goes.
What are your ports of call?
The Med is a good place to recharge the batteries and grab some warmth and sunshine

Gibraltar is very easy to get around by taxi. Lots to see and shopping too. Don't miss the monkeys, but hold on to your belongings when near them.

Thanks for reply. We booked before the announcement about QE2 so very pleased at our choice. We visit Lisbon, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Rome, Sardinia (Cagliari), Palma, Gibraltar. I have already been to Rome, Palma and Gibraltar but any tips on the other places would be welcome. Also, as we do not want to go into Rome itself, is there anywhere interesting near Civitavecchia that we could take a taxi too? Carolyne
Carolyne, you are very lucky indeed. Since the announcement that the ship is leaving, many of the cruises have had their fares bumped up by quite a bit.
Barcelona is a stunning city, Las Ramblas is a definate 'must see' with its treelined pedestrianised area, superb shopping and pavement cafes. The architecture is incredible too, Gaudi really went wild in Barcelona, his masterpiece has to be the Sagrada Familia...
