Hello Hamilton, Great news, at last I find someone else who is on the maiden voyage, was beginning to think we were on our own! Its all very exciting and getting closer every day, we must meet for a drink or two in one of the beautiful bars and swap notes. What deck will you be on? we are on a guaranteed booking for A6 , so do not have a room number, only know it will have a balcony.
Keep in touch,
love to cruise.

Just wanted to say hello... I'm on the QV too for the 106 days... deck 7 . Whilst I'm megga excited, I'm a wee bit anxious as it's my first time cruising alone (friends and family can't get that much time off from work... and I simply can't be asked to wait 15 odd years for them to start retirement!!! ). I must admit that I'm looking forward to some 'quiet time' with good books, but know that I'm going to have to overcome my shyness if I want to avoid feeling lonely on board... and I can tell you, this will be a huge challenge for me!!!

Anyway, I'm just starting to get my head around the excursions on offer... and wow... they look great... but what to choose? .

Welcome to our cruise mad family, Kazzie

As a solo cruiser myself, I am certain that you will have a wonderful time on the cruise aboard QV. You'll be making lots of new friends within hours of boarding. It's actually alot of fun cruising alone...and there are no arguments about where to go, what to do etc either

Thanks Ally... do you ever have any safety concerns when cruising alone? I mean the excursions... like free time to go off shopping in a major city, etc... I'm worried I'd lose the ship if left to my own devises!!! Are there any 'no-nos' when travelling alone?

There aren't any really serious problems about travelling alone, Kazzie. Just make sure that you stay aware of the surroundings that you are in, don't advertise yourself as a tourist - ie leave cameras in your bag, not around you neck or wrist, take a minimum of cash with you and keep things like passports & credit cards in a secure place. As long as you are careful, then there really isn't anything to worry you tbh. If you can, get friendly with others on the ship and go out and about as a group if you feel uncomfortable...safety in numbers does apply sometimes, especially in ports where there is obvious poverty or if you want to venture around a port of call without using the ship excursions. As for being left behind, well if you go with the organised trips the ship is duty bound to wait for you and if you go it alone or as part of a group of friends, make sure that you are back onboard at least an hour before it is due to sail.
