The docs have arrived in a very posh presentation wallet. There will be 1 formal night and 2 semi formal nights.

We have arrived back from our cruise.
I have to say that of the cruise ships that I have been on, the QE2 is the most outstanding. It is such a shame that we were only on her for a few days and it's now too late to go on any other cruises with her. The staff were so friendly, courteous and most of helpful. The ship itself has that majestic touch and a touch of class. She is certainly the leader in her class. We visited to beautiful cities Rotterdam and Bruges. We had the fortune of watching Queen Victoria arrive in Zeebrugge. She does look grand. When we left Rotterdam the harbour boats were out to give us a send off with their water sprays and all the other ships setting off their horns in a farewell salute. In Zeebrugge hundreds of people came out to wave the ship off. The QE2's final visit had been big news in Belgium. I'll write up a full review shortly and post some picture later.

She is very special, John....and she will be missed by hundreds and thousands of people. I don't think CCL really know just how special QE2 is and they might regret losing her to early retirement.

A number of guests on board were previous staff coming to say goodbye. Also current staff had their families on-board, courtesy of Cunard.
We met one staff member who has worked on the QE2 since 1971. When QE2 goes to Dubai he loses his job and home. Very sad. Also all the staff on QE2 do not have jobs waiting for them on other Cunard ships. So they are all having to look elsewhere. However no one is prepared to leave until their final day. The crew all love her. How many other cruise ships can say that.

One tiny correction...she isn't a cruise ship...she's an ocean liner
 That last trip to Dubai will be heartbreaking for each of the crew. QE2 has a wonderful family and that family will be torn apart.....I also think it is dreadful that there are no jobs within the company for the crew, most of whom have dedicated their working lives to Cunard. Perhaps they should have waited until the new Vista version of QE3 is finished before discarding QE2?

She could have stayed in service til 2010...at least. Why they decided to get rid of her so early is anyone's guess. They didn't get her full value either and there are moves afoot to stop all of her artwork going with her as they are priceless pieces of history.
