Hello All,
I am making arrangements for myself and my bestfriend of 42 years to take a cruise in 2010, we as of yet have nothing booked, but, we have chosen the Mex Riv, and will cruise on the Carnival Splendor. Now my question is for all the cruise lines, what are the age demographics for each line? I found them about 10 years ago, when I took my first cruise, but I have been unable to locate them this time around.
We are in our early 50's, but act and feel in our late 30's.....(oh, you know how it is when old girlfriends get together, we turn 13 again! LOL) Anyway, my bestfriend was worried that we would be "stuck" in an age appropriate cruise......you know, OLD PEOPLE! LOL So if anybody has any feedback for us, we would really appreciate it! If I remember correctly the age demo's for Carnival is 35-45?
Help! LOL
Personally I think cruise line age demographics have blurred considerably in the last few years. Mainly this, IMHO, is down to the competitive way that cruise lines market themselves to every age group. At one time you could assume that Cunard were for the older generations but not anymore...QM2 and QV have made Cunard far more appealing to the younger crowd and families. In the same way, Carnival have embraced all age groups and don't aim specifically for the younger age groups which they had to do, in a way, when they started up in order to encourage those age groups to cruise and to convince younger people that cruising isn't just for old fuddy-duddies.
Even the higher end of the cruise lines...Regent, Oceania, Crystal...are actively encouraging younger and younger guests.
I think you will have a wonderful time on whatever ship you choose...age is but a number and the cruise lines have finally cottoned onto that...which is a good thing in my book
Every cruise I have done in recent years has had age 5 thru 95 on it and everyone had a great time mixing with each other and enjoying what each ship had to offer

Ally,
Thank you soooooooooo much, your response was very quick, and contained all the information we needed. I immediately read it to my best friend, who responded......"Alrighty then, that takes care of it!" So, I guess plans are still ongoing for our "Sister Cruise". I am sure more quirky questions will arise in the next few months, I look forward to posting and getting such wonderful replies.
Thanks Again.
Holly
Happy Cruiser
I am in my mid-40's and I used to be on the ships years ago when the 'old and rich' dominated the passenger loading. That has thankfully gone now and the cruise lines are evolving...it does have to be said that they cannot afford to aim at specific age groupings anymore, they need backsides on sunloungers and those backsides are of all ages...ships nowadays, even the older vessels are catering for all ages far more than they used to.
There are child-free ships around too if you really don't want to be cruising with the rugrats that belong to other people. Everyone is covered now...there are so many ships out there that offer a variety of things to do (or not, according to what you want out of a cruise).
Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any other questions or concerns
My TA has just returned from Splendor's naming/inaugural and as most people have already mentioned...she is very pink but she caters for every age group....because she HAS to in order to survive the massive competition that she has out there

Ally,
OK, how in the world did you know to mention the color pink? That happens to be my Best friend's favorite color! I buzzed her when I read your last post, she was DELIGHTED! Pink, all around her, here and there on the ship? Well, she is thrilled, and can't wait now! LOL
Thanks again!,
Holly
P.S. You were speaking of the ship when you said pink...weren't you? LOL
