Having the 'L' on the funnel is no good...they should have 'L' plates front and rear

Default Louis Cruises Ships

Hi

It is not often that you hear of any problems with the larger ships they charter out, to companies like Thompsons, so perhaps their senior captains are on board these ships.

They could fit their other ships with a rubber fender all the way round the hull and then they could play bumper boats leaving Piraeus harbour !

Sea Diamond was only in the fleet a short time before she sank...and she was very unpopular with passengers leading up to the sinking. When she hit the reef, salvagers said she could be patched and towed to a port for extensive repairs, but Louis had the ship towed to deep water instead and sunk. Which is why they are determined not to bring her back up.

I smell a big rat with that incident and Louis Lines ships have almost all had incidents over the last year or so.....Orient Queen a crewman lost legs when the mooring line snapped, Serenade hit a pier, Aquamarine hit a pier, one of the Thomson ships hit Ocean Majesty...now in the space of a week we have Aegean Pearl and Cristal both in collisions.

No other line has this many incidents...its either bad seamanship or bad management.

Wasn't Aegean Pearl docked when Zenith hit her? and sure it was Ocean Majesty that hit Spirit not the other way around. So not at fault in those incidences just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Default Piraeus - Very Short Turn Round Times !

Hi

With the early morning arrivals and short turn round times that most of the Louis Cruises ships have in Piraeus I would think the crews are working under a lot of stress to see that everything is ready for the next cruise !

When the P & O ss Oriana was cruising from Sydney, Australia, we would arrive in port about 07.00 hrs. and sail again at 21.00 hrs.

On the Australian cruises we carried a maximum of 1,500 passengers as some of the lower deck cabins were taken out of use and used for storage purposes.

Even now most of the P&O cruises starting from Southampton have about ten hours in port !

Most of the Louis cruises seem to arrive in Piraeus about 07.00 hrs and sail again at 11.00 hrs which allows about four hours turn their ships round !!
