How to pay onboard Costa ships
Payment on board and Costa Card
In your cabin onboard you will find your personal Costa Card which verifies your identity throughout the cruise. For your convenience, all Costa ships feature a cashless system onboard, and using your Costa Card you can charge everything to your onboard account, including gift shop purchases, wine and bar bills, spa and beauty shop services, dry cleaning and laundry, telephone calls, shore excursions and Casino (for an additional fee). At the end of your cruise, you’ll receive a statement showing all your shipboard charges, including the Service Charge for hotel and beverage services. You may settle your account with cash (Sterling, Euros or US dollars), travellers cheques or credit card (see below).
Credit cards
We have introduced a credit card service, which you may sign up to at the beginning of your cruise, which automatically charges purchases to your credit card. With this service you will receive your bill in your cabin and, unless you state otherwise, will automatically be charged to your credit card. The following credit cards are accepted on board: American Express, VISA and MasterCard. We recommend that you advise your credit card provider that you are going on holiday before you depart. Please note - Debit cards like Maestro and Switch and electronic cards like Visa Delta and Visa Electron are not accepted onboard.
Personal cheques
We are not able to accept payment by personal cheque onboard.
Currency & foreign exchange
The legal currency on board is Euro except in the following cases where the legal currency onboard is US Dollar:
– Costa Fortuna and Costa Mediterranea cruises in the Caribbean
– Costa Magica, Costa Victoria and Costa Classica cruises in South America
– Costa Magica, Costa Victoria and Costa Classica Spring 2008 Transatlantic cruises
The foreign exchange facility on board is limited and is normally closed while the ship is in port so we recommend that you carry enough local currency for each port of call visited, or carry small denomination Travellers Cheques to cash while ashore. There are no automatic cash machines onboard. We regret that we do not provide credit card cash advances and we cannot cash personal cheques. Travellers Cheques can be cashed at the Information/Customer Service Desk.
