CIC Australia bans indoor smoking

Classic International Cruises Australia md Grant Hunter announced today that smoking will be banned in all indoor areas of Funchal and Princess Daphne during the company’s 2008/09 Down Under season.

The 550-passenger Funchal returns to Fremantle on December 20 for a fifth annual extended season that will run for four months and includes voyages to and from Adelaide.

On November 14 the 600-passenger Princess Daphne will make a 35-night repositioning voyage from Piraeus to Sydney where she will operate a programme of South Pacific cruises and a 48-night round voyage to Japan. She departs Sydney on March 19 next year for her 39-night repositioning voyage to Marseille via the Suez Canal.

Hunter said smoking will not be permitted in cabins, dining rooms, the casino, lounges, theatres or on balconies. It will only be allowed in selected outdoor areas. The ban applies to the repositioning voyages.

The new smoking policy is a result of ‘strong passenger feedback and shifting social trends,’ Hunter said.
