Athena was originally built as a trans-atlantic ocean liner and in 1994 the vessel changed ownership and was virtually stripped to her hull and re-constructed and restored as a beautiful new premium rated contemporary cruise ship. This regal lady of the waves is an imposing figure wherever she goes and is the ideal home base from which to explore the Greek Islands on either a three or four day cruise.
With elegant and subtle colors and tones throughout, she is also the perfect setting for every kind of onboard activity from enjoying a melody in the Piano Bar to rolling the dice at the casino.
The Ocean Countess has undergone major refurbishment during winter 2005/2006, with new cabin furnishings, carpeting and wall coverings in addition to televisions (with satellite reception) being installed and the telephone system upgraded. All suites have been totally refurbished.

With a yacht-like ambience, Arion has a particular style, charm and grace which can only be found on vessels of this size. Recently refurbished, Arion is able to offer you a truly memorable cruising experience combined with a service that is second to none.
In March 2000, the Arion underwent a total reconstruction made in Lisbon on the amount of 15 million dollars. Her interiors were designed and decorated by Arminio Lozzi and George Potamianos, who were able to create a subtle atmosphere of light blending and soft colours through it's new public rooms and passenger cabins. Renamed as "Arion" and coming under Arcalia’s management in 2000, the ship has been sailing since then around the globe.

Funchal, the first vessel managed by Arcalia, actually began her career as the Portuguese Presidential Yacht, for transatlantic visits, before her conversion into a cruise vessel. A regular refurbishment programme has maintained her high standard.
At 10,000 gross tons, this classic cruise liner with her beautiful profile charming interiors and sheltered promenade decks is renowned for her yacht-like ambience. As a 571 passengers capacity vessel, she is exceptionally convivial and this more social, personalised style of cruising, along with her attentive and dedicated staff crew, some of which have been with her for over 20 years, has enabled her to attract a strong loyal following of repeat clientele.
