CIC relinquishes Monarch representation
Classic International Cruises Australia’s md Grant Hunter has confirmed a report that the company will no longer act as general sales agent for Monarch Classic Cruises worldwide.
Speaking to media from Adelaide where he is making sales calls on retail travel agents, Hunter said CIC’s head office has decided to ‘concentrate on core business.’
He said sales for Piraeus-based Monarch Classic Cruises ‘have gone reasonably well’ and that the termination of CIC’s exclusive representation agreement has been ‘amicable.’
Monarch Classic Cruises has released a programme of Aegean and Mediterranean cruises from March to November next year, including a new ‘3 Continents - 5 Countries’ itinerary covering Greece, Egypt, Israel, Cyprus and Turkey.
Hunter said forward bookings for CIC’s fourth Southern Hemisphere summer season to be operated by the 9,563gt Funchal out of Fremantle from December are strong.
‘Around 30% of the bookings have been made by repeat passengers,’ he said.
