Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a report at 2 p.m. of a 30-year-old woman with unstable blood sugar levels on the cruise ship Paradise 40 miles west of Point Loma, Calif. A rescue boat from Station San Diego was launched and met the cruise ship at the sea buoy where the patient was transferred to the Coast Guard. She was then taken to the Shelter Island Police dock, where an ambulance took her to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, Calif.
