Default Calypso - check your cabin

There are still discrepancies on Thomson's website about names, descriptions and locations of cabins!

Superior Inside Cabins are NOT available on the Concerto deck - ie the ones with 4 single beds.

Superior Inside Cabins for 4 passengers are on Allegro deck only.

Superior Inside Cabins for 2 passengers are on the upper deck (only a few of them!).

I can't comment on the other categories because I've booked a 2/4 berth inside superior ... and came up with these points.

That's good to know Alsacienne, thanks for letting us know. Thomson have had the ship long enough now to know which grades are on which deck, I would have thought. Would be very annoying to try and sort cabins on the deckplans that aren't there in reality.

Last year we had a standard inside on Concerto deck, it was not classed as superior but definitely had 4 single beds, biggest cabin we have ever had on a cruise like 2 cabins in one.

Lucky you for the big cabin! That's what I had hoped I'd be getting but I don't think I'll get a refund for 'downgrading'!

I have had a bit of a hit and miss day with Thomson today - adding on my son to the booking. First a young lady who had perhaps had too good a weekend because she couldn't concentrate on what my details were and kept giving me funny information.

So later in the afternoon I tried again, and got a nice young man who corrected most of her information, but got stuck on other things.
I explained that I was having problems because I live abroad ... and not all the telephone lines function, and I was never sent a brochure even though I requested one because they would not send me one to my (foreign!) address. So he gave me a number, which was actually a 'top brass' one ... and after the kind young man had got over the shock of my phoning him, he managed to give me plenty of info and dismiss totally what the other two had said ................ I was checking up on things that I had been told back in May!!

I made the comments to him about brochure inaccuracies and website inaccuracies and it is filtering through to 'those who do' that there is a lot to be done!!!

Hi Alsacienne.
Have to admit was very surprised last year with the room, I've booked that standard again this year but won't know till we board where we have our cabin.
So far have never actually dealt with Thomsons themselves, always gone through my travel agent.

I don't have the luxury of a travel agent ....... living in France! And those that call themselves travel agents - well don't go there! In my part of the world they are capable of selling a packaged holiday but anything not part of what it says in the brochure ................. well let's reinvent the wheel!!

I seem to be getting somewhere now, and am looking forward to planning my packing!!!

Hi Alsacienne
Just returned from the Calypso. No big cabin for me either this cruise. We had cabin 217 on deck 2. Two single beds did have bunks above if needed. Have to say room seemed to have more space than the one I had on NCL. Sorry forgot to take piccies of room. Only a few days now till your off. Have you packed yet?
