Azamara to make Thames debut

The company, part of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines stable, will visit 91 ports in 36 countries in Europe in 2009 departing from Athens, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Rome and Venice.

Twenty new ports and overnight stays have been scheduled by the company as part of its 2009 schedule.

These include a call in Dartmouth, which is inaccessible to larger ships, and La Spezia in Italy, where larger ships have to anchor. An overnight stay in Edinburgh is also planned.

Other new ports of call include Zadar in Croatia, Rouen in France, Volos in Greece and Amalfi in Italy.

The schedule includes four consecutive seven-night Mediterranean cruises with no repeat ports of call.

A new Iceland and Norwegian Fjords itinerary will run from Copehagen and a 10-night eastern Mediterranean and Adriatic Coast voyage will include only one sea day.

Departures at 22.00 or later will be offered at 10 ports of call.
