Lightbulb Meyer Werft delivers AIDAbella

Quote:
Meyer Werft delivered AIDAbella to AIDA Cruises in the German port of Emden. The 69,200gt ship is the second in a series of six the Papenburg yard is building for the line.

Some 65% of the 1,025 cabins are outsides, of which 439 sport balconies. The ship features a 1,100-seat Theatrium, seven restaurants and 11 bars and lounges.

Power generation is provided by four diesel generators, each having an output of 9,000 kW. The MaK 9M43C engines can produce 25,000 kW of propulsion power for a top speed of 22 knots. The integrated navigation and command system is NACOS 65-5 by SAM Electronics.

AIDAbella is registered in Italy, with Germanischer Lloyd serving as the classification society.

The ship is scheduled to leave Emden this afternoon, arriving in Kiel on Thursday. The ship will be named in Rostock/Warnemünde by godmother Eva Padberg.

The first revenue cruise, from Rostock to Bergen, sails on April 24.
