New stops in Scotland, Greece and Turkey and a solar eclipse cruise to the Arctic

Cruise specialist Voyages of Discovery launches its 2008 summer preview brochure this week, featuring a unique range of voyages aboard the spacious and elegant Discovery. Destinations include Scandinavia, Scotland, Russia, the Baltic, Iceland, Greenland, the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and North Africa.

New additions for 2008 include Turkey’s scenic Turquoise coast, with excursions available to the ancient Halicarnassus fort at Bodrum, plus the secluded bays and beaches of Kas. The 11-night ‘Aegean Odyssey’, departing 24 October 2008, also incorporates new stops at Rhodes and Heraklion in Greece. Prices start at £1,142 pp*.

New ports of call at Lerwick, Invergordon and Leith in Scotland have also been introduced on the 10-night ‘Norwegian Fjords & Scottish Islands’ voyage, departing 4 July 2008, with prices starting at £1,034 pp*. On the 13-night ‘North Cape, Spitsbergen and Eclipse’ voyage, departing 25 July 2008, passengers will experience a total eclipse of the sun as the Discovery sets sail for Honningsvag in Norway. Prices start at £1,376 pp*.

Managing Director, David Yellow, says: “Our summer 2008 programme offers an exciting and unusual range of destinations, from remote Spitsbergen and ancient Alexandria to the spectacular city of St Petersburg and the Black Sea port of Batumi. As ever, each voyage is packed full of natural beauty, history and culture, with onboard speakers – all specialists in their field - to enrich the experience.

“We are especially pleased to feature an adventurous voyage to the Arctic Circle to coincide with the solar eclipse next year and predict that this will book up way in advance,” he adds.

The lead-in price is £494 pp* for the seven-night ‘Cruise to the Riviera’, departing 4 September 2008 with stops at Lisbon, Gibraltar, Almeria and Nice.

To celebrate the launch of its summer 2008 programme, Voyages of Discovery is offering an extra 10% reduction off early booking fares in addition to early booking savings of up to 50% off full brochure prices, if booked before 25th May.

*Prices include additional 10% savings and are per person based on two sharing an inside, twin-bedded cabin and include all meals, flights (if applicable), on-board entertainment, on-board gratuities, port and airport taxes, baggage handling and overseas transfers, plus free parking at Harwich or free return coach transfers from central London, Luton or Stansted on cruises that begin and/or end in the UK.

For a full calendar of the summer 2008 cruises available, with departure dates, please refer to the back cover of the new brochure.
